New illustration, inspired by this quote:
“What came first: the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?” - Rob Gordon, High Fidelity
Great quote from one of my favorite movies. And a beautiful image, as well.
Is this really a god-damn news item? Really?
The paragraph below is quoted from the Apple iPhone page. In the fine print at the bottom, Steve Jobs makes it very clear that he is going to punish his existing iPhone users. When the 3G came out, he offered the discount, new 2 year contract option to old iPhone users. Not this time.
For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).You have put your every waking minute into this phone, pretty much ignoring that you are a computer company and that you are going to release an ‘upgrade’ to Leopard. Which is fine, Leopard rocks as is and the upgrade will make it better. But since you feel you’ve reached the end of the line with hardware and software on the computer, don’t you think you should stop screwing over your loyal iPhone users and reward instead of punish them for owning a previous version of your new baby?
**This is not about not wanting to fulfill current commitment contracts. This is about those that have contracts that have recently expired or about to expire, that use either iPhone 2G or 3G, are still being told they will have to pay the higher prices.
If this is true, it pisses me off.
Rawr. And rawr.
Why do I just want to stomp around and break stuff when I hear this? I know that these guys seem a little “light” and “pop-py” in political message (as compared to heavyweights like Rage and Green Day) but I can’t help but wonder if that’s just a way to get their songs in the hands of the Panic at the Disco crowd.
Have to ask my niece and nephew about that…
